I went to a military band concert tonight!

Not my favorite kind of music, but needless to say, they played very well.

John Philip Sousa IV was there. He’s an artist, not a musician, and it showed when he conducted Stars and Stripes Forever backwards…like, 2-1 2-1 2-1 instead of 1-2-1-2-1. His downbeats were just messed up, but of course it didn’t matter. He’s the great-grandson of JOHN PHILIP SOUSA (that’s code for God in the band world).

Also, my dad tries so hard. He can’t keep a beat with his foot tapping or his hand clapping, but he tries valiantly. A for effort father, A for effort.

Just wanted to share this moment with you :)

While at a yard sale today, I spotted this for $1. I know it’s not Christmas, but I love penguins as you all know…so I had to. I just. had to.

Of course I’m spamming you with my videos again! This one is about what it means to be queer :)

Ah okay, I’m back :)

It’s summer, and I have a couple weeks at home until my job and classes start up. I don’t know if I’ll be back for good, or just for these few weeks, or just for the summer…but I thought I’d check in on some of my favorite people!

Anyway, yup, summer:
- Job at the Music Dept continues…doing desk work 4 hours a day
- Classes = Spanish 101+102, and Intro to Drawing II
- There’s an Owl City concert in Doswell VA on June 30…I’m going to that =P
- Might be going to the DC Pride Parade on June 9, but I’m not sure…

I think I’m going to add Studio Art as my second major (BIG LIFE UPDATE!)…so that’s exciting. Umm, other than that, I have a great little Brother in my Fraternity, I’ll be a Drill Instructor for the marching band next Fall, I might be taking both vocal lessons and a hip hop dance class this summer, and I’m making videos like crazy still!

Hope you guys have been doing well, and it’s good to be back :) don’t even know what to post anymore it’s been so long, but expect some starbucks as always <3

So, it has come to this.

After being away from Tumblr for about 4 days, here is what I have figured out and decided:

 • Tumblr uses up a lot of my time. Too much.
 • My blog is a pretty good representation of me, and reblogging more penguins or Starbucks or Pokemon pictures isn’t going to change that significantly.
 • I certainly don’t want to expend the energy to go back and look at all of the posts from the last 4 days. That would take more than a day…not okay.

The main enjoyment I get out of Tumblr now is the interaction with others. By asking them questions, answering questions, just getting to know people. And I think I can still do that without getting tangled up in hours upon hours of Tumblr-ing.

I will keep my Tumblr up, but from this point on, I’m not going to be scrolling through the Dashboard, liking pictures of attractive men, reblogging great recipes, or doing my year-to-blog challenge.

I will simply contact people (or hopefully be contacted by people) with whom I would like to keep in touch…hopefully getting a Skype or Facebook or phone number.

And I have my ask box set up to send me an email when someone asks a question, so don’t worry, I will know if you try to reach me =)

It’s weird to think that I’ve been on for almost two years (April 3, 2010…thank you Tumblr Stats!), and I’ve certainly enjoyed being 2 weeks ahead of the curve on what’s cool on the Internet, but it’s time for us to part *violin plays dramatically* I could really use the time for my music, going to the gym, or being *gasp* social. But seriously, it’s been a blast, and I will likely be talking to many of you off of Tumblr from this point on!

Love you guys so much! <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

March 4, 2012: I literally did nothing today…slept until noon, read a bit of Mockingjay, went out for dinner, and played (and lost badly at) canasta.

March 1, 2012: Woke up early to go to work since I knew my whole day would be busy. After work, went to my Wind Band class, during which we listened to music and then had sandwiches to celebrate the arrival of Spring Break. My director (the professor of that class) is so generous =)
Then, had my lunch date. I think it went really well; we had a lot of good conversation going…since then we haven’t really talked, and I kind of want him to make the next move since I’ve done most of it so far and want to see if he’s interested. But yeah, after break, it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
Then I went to Walker Elementary to do more tutoring. It was fun; we got to play outside (well, “got to” since there weren’t rooms for us) and I think I was able to help them out decently!
Then got home and pretty much immediately left for the Men’s Basketball game against FSU. I’m not even going to start about that game…we ended up losing in the last 2 seconds, after having a decent lead. But whatever, it was senior night, and we got to see Mike Scott and Sammy Zeglinski play =D
Chilled at home after that…no Friday classes, so clearly no homework!
Yay old photos, haha. Clearly my camera phone didn’t get much use in this timeframe. But this is my crew after finishing our trek at Philmont, the summer before my senior year. We did something like 85 miles in 11 days. It was awesome =D

FAQ Friday!!! And there was a tumblr anon who sent in some questions a week or so ago…answered the rest today!

New FAQ Friday video! And there was one Tumblr anon who sent in 3 questions…I answered one of them today =D

My train of thought in the shower:

 • Kyle 1: Oh no! Stray shampoo is getting into my eyes!
 • Kyle 2: Okay Kyle, calm down. Just blink a ton and it'll get out.
 • Kyle 1: Oh phew, thank goodness for eyelids.
 • Kyle 2: You know, snakes don't have eyelids.
 • Kyle 1: *Gasp* What do snakes do when there is stray shampoo getting in their eyes?!?
 • Kyle 2: You're an idiot.
Just got the package of Valentine’s candy my mom sent me…her words:
“I’m sending along some extra Reese’s Pieces, maybe for your friends…”
Puh-lease. I’m eating all that godliness by myself!
JK JK JK I will share! One piece each! NO MORE FOR YOU!

February 14, 2012: Happy Valentine’s everyone! Hope it was awesome =)
Today, went to my 11 am class and we reviewed for our first test on Thursday. It should be fine, although there are a lot of little details to remember about Wind Band history…people, music, etc. Lol =P
Went to one of the food trucks with friends to get bubble tea and gourmet grilled cheese. Yes, gourmet grilled cheese, it exists. Then, on my way to work, I saw a friend from band selling flowers with his service fraternity, and I bought one for my boss. She was happy to have it =)
Worked for awhile, listened to my friend’s radio show, then went to a fraternity meeting. Now I’m here, at 1 a.m….on tumblr…
Got this shirt last year from the LGBT Resource Center…”Love is Love.” Such a great message =D

February 10, 2012: What did I do last Friday? It was so long ago!
I know I don’t have classes…so I probably slept in a decent amount. Made an FAQ Friday video. Those are always fun =) and you guys should always feel free to send in questions!!
OH YEAH! Now I remember. Went to work from 1-3 pm, but then was asked to record a lecture at 3:30. So I sat there and listened. It was about Iranian Popular Music in Los Angeles, called losangelesi (yep, that’s spelled correctly). The speaker talked about how the music doesn’t sit with the beliefs of the government in Iran (although, everyone knows it exists and gets played), because the topic is that of emigrants of Iran, people who have left the country, mostly out of disgust with the government. The whole lecture was pretty interesting.
But it lasted until 5, then I had to take the files from camera —> computer —> flash drive. They were HUGEEEEE files and this took longer than I had, since I had to go help run a cooking competition for KKPsi at 6 pm. So I ended up leaving my computer at work…all night…and didn’t get it until 2 pm the next day. It was traumatic to say the least =P
Cooking competition was fun! My house got 4th place…out of 4 =( but honestly, everyone did a really good job. The challenge was “orange and blue”…so making nachos with blue (food-colored) sour cream and chicken was pretty inventive. Go Ionic!
This picture was from last year, when my class (the Phi Class) got through the final part of our fraternity’s bid process. I love our class…they’re so awesome. And there’s me on the left! Lol >.<
